The Icarus Academy is located at the Schelde with a view of the old city of Antwerp. Via the pedestrian tunnel (walking distance from the Groenplaats) you will find Linkeroever, where you can walk along the water with a view of the old city up to the Icarus Academy, located just across the small marina. Izumi Restaurant has existed since 1978 and brings traditional Japanese cuisine to its original shape. Ed Balke, Amsterdammer of birth, got into Japanese culture and tradition at the end of the 1960s. Since 1996 he has been assisted by Takeaki Kato, a talented Sushi chef from Hiroshima.

De Bomma :

Food at the Bomma, that means a simple, enjoyable kitchen with a tad of nostalgia. Within a few months, SIPS grows into a unique business where service, quality and use of Premium Labels are absolute priority. Manuel makes a thousand cocktails according to the original recipe. Kathedraal :


The MAS is more than a museum. It is an impressive warehouse in the middle of the bustling district, the island “het Eilandje”. A walk boulevard with meter-high glass sections leads you 60 meters high. On each floor a new story about Antwerp, the river, the port and the world will be awaiting you. The collection of 500,000 pieces of museums gives you a refreshing view of the city and its long-standing contacts with the world in permanent and varied exhibits. And all the way up, on the 10th floor, you enjoy a 360 degree panorama of the city, harbor and stream.


The Rubenshuis has a lot to offer. In addition to the permanent presentation, there are also temporary exhibitions, the building, an extensive collection, ...


The Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp is a museum of modern art and contemporary art in Antwerp. The M HKA is housed in a converted and extensive grain silo from 1926 at the Waalsekaai 47.

Mode museum:

ModeMuseum Province of Antwerp, the former Provincial Costume and Textile Museum in Oelegem, has been located in the center of Antwerp in the Antwerp-Fashion Nation building since 2002.

Foreigners market:

Every Saturday from 8h00 to 16h00 there is a market at the Oudevaartplaats, at the Stadsschouwburg of Antwerp. This Saturday market is also known as the Foreigners market. The foreigners market thanks its name to the many exotic vegetables and fruits you can buy here. In addition to Turkish, Moroccan and Southern specialties, you will also find local products.  

Bird market:

Every Sunday from 8h00 to 13h00 there is the famous bird market in Antwerp. This is originally due to the poultry that you can buy. But beside the poultry you will find stalls with clothes, household items and especially a lot of sweets. From 28/3 to 31/10 you can go there from 8 to 14 hours. In the winter months, the marketers close an hour earlier. The Theaterplein, the Graanmarkt and the Oudevaartplaats can accommodate 730 stands. The cozy atmosphere of the market continues on the surrounding terraces.

In the heart of Antwerp, at the crossroads of the historic city center, the fashion district and the shopping streets, you will find (Super) Mercado. The first real food market in Belgium with space for events and culture.

With examples like the Torvehallerne in Copenhagen, London Food Hall and Mercado San Miguel in Madrid they introduce the concept of the indoor food markets and their festive, southern market atmosphere to Antwerp. The former post office at the Groenplaats creates a mecca of food culture, a unique place rich in history.
